One Mission Galveston Jr. High Mission Trip Report From Macey and Marley

On our mission trip to Galveston, we started painting the outside of a home. It was hard work and was very hot, but our desire to serve allowed us to finish the task. We feel as though our relationships with the members of our team grew stronger. We encourage the youth to get involved in mission projects whenever possible. Serving is an honor and a very humbling experience.

Battlefield Houston was crazy!!!! It really was like popular videogame Call of Duty come to life. We met on Friday the 19th of March at the O’Leary home on Avenue D. We broke up into 2 teams. I was on the red team, who dominated, losing only 1 of the 4 games we played against the green team. There were 32 students total, and we had a great time!!! The games were Team Death Match, Capture the Flag, and Last Team Standing. We had to use strategy and team work to play the games. This event was another way for me to have fun with my friends. Remixed on Wednesday nights, events like Battlefield Houston, Mission trips, summer camps, or anything going on at the church with the youth are opportunities to meet and develop relationships with each other. I want to encourage students at KCF to participate in every event they can, so they can join in the fun we have with each other….. plus Remixed is “2 legit, 2 legit 2 quit” quote by Marcus Evans.

We are going to have a great time on March 19th from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the O’Leary home on Avenue D playing some Extreme Laser Tag. Battlefield Houston will be there leading us. The cost is $10.00 and I hope to see you there.

We will be having our second Student HELPERS 301 on Sunday, April 25th at the Crossing from 3:00 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. Student HELPERS 301 is about ministry, discovering our spiritual gifts and using them to serve.

“Rock the River” camp will be July 26^th through July 30^th at the 7-A Ranch Resort in Wimberley, TX. The camp is for Jr. and Sr. High students.

I want to encourage you to attend and to bring your friends to Sunday mornings, Remixed on Wednesday night at the Crossing from 6:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. or to any student ministry event here at KCF.

We had our third Discipleship Now weekend in conjunction with the Axiom Purity Conference held at The Fellowship at Cinco Ranch. KCF was one of twelve churches that came together to sponsor this event with 570 students attending. I want to thank Eddie and Veronica Neel, Frankie and Tammy Flores, Travis and Jamie Burrow for opening your homes to us and for being such great hosts and hostesses and to Delaine for allowing us to host the High School boys in our home. I also want to thank Elda Suarez and Miranda Thurman for leading the Jr. High girls, Delaine Evans and Tammy Flores for leading the High School girls, Josh Esquivel and Travis Burrow for leading the Jr. High boys and Chris Copeland for helping me lead the High School boys. All of our host homes and leaders did an outstanding job and we so appreciate you and your support.

Some Events to Look Forward to in 2010!

Here are four events that will be coming up in 2010 so be thinking about and planning for them. We are having our third Discipleship Now weekend in conjunction with the Axiom Purity Conference on January 15^th through January 17^th. What is the big deal about purity? Why does it matter? Join hundreds of Katy students who are asking the same questions. You don’t want to miss it! The cost is $40.00 which includes conference materials, meals, and a T-shirt. The deadline for registration is January 6^th.

Students will have the opportunity to attend Student HELPERS 201 on Sunday, March 7^th at the Crossing from 3:00 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. Student HELPERS 201 is divided into 5 parts or areas that Christians need to develop in order to grow in spiritual maturity.

We will be having our second Student HELPERS 301 on Sunday, April 25^th at the Crossing from 3:00 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. Student HELPERS 301 is about ministry, discovering our spiritual gifts and using them to serve.

1st Six Weeks ‘09-’10 Almost Behind Us!

The first 6 weeks of school are almost behind us and I hope your report cards will make everyone happy at your house. I want to encourage you to attend and to bring your friends to Sunday mornings, Remixed on Wednesday night at the Crossing from 6:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. or to any student ministry event here at KCF.

Wreath sales are in full swing now. Sales will continue through October 14^th. You can help support student ministries here at KCF by placing your order with either a student or by calling Marcus @ 281.391.0099.

Students will have the opportunity to attend Student HELPERS 101 on Sunday, November 8^th at the Crossing from 3:00 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. Student HELPERS 101 is a basic introduction to our church family. Student HELPERS is divided into three parts, our salvation, our statements and our structure.

Our Junior High Mission trip was on August 7^th in Galveston. Thank you Delaine Evans, Tammy Flores, Jason Hill, Mundo and Elda Suarez and Josh Esquivel for your service in making this a great mission experience and thank you to all the students that participated.

September 23^rd is “See You at the Pole”, www.syatp.com, and I encourage you to take part in prayer at your school in the morning around your flagpole with other believers.

Wow 2009 is going by fast. “Spring Break Bash” will be on Friday night March 20th from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Crossing. Students, please make plans to be at “Spring Break Bash” because we are going to have a great time.

Student HELPERS 101 will be on Sunday, March 29th at the Crossing from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. Student
HELPERS 101 is a basic introduction to our church family. Student HELPERS 101 is divided into three parts: our salvation, our statements, and our structure.

Also, students will have the opportunity to attend our second Student HELPERS 201 on Sunday, April 26th at the Crossing from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. Student HELPERS 201 is divided into 5 parts or areas that Christians need to develop in order to grow in spiritual maturity.

We will leave for the Benito Juarez orphanage in Reynosa, Mexico on June 8th and will return on June 12th. This Mission to Mexico experience is for adults and High School students. Student cost is $100.00. Please check with the State Department website, http://travel.state.gov, for travel to Mexico requirements.
