16 We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?

18 Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.1 John 3:16-18 NLT

I attend d the cookie decorating event held at church this year. I’m not a very outgoing person, I keep to myself quite a bit but I decided to share the cookies with our neighbor. It turns out that my neighbor passed away the day before and his wife found great joy in the cookies. I was able to connect with my neighbor and I have been bringing dinners over every once in a while to help with this hard time. I’m very appreciative of this cookie event myself for allowing me to open my heart to my neighbor. It has helped me feel more apart of a community and I’m glad I was able to connect with my neighbor.

Since I retired more than a year ago I had every intention of getting involved with an assisted living facility in some capacity. After our series on Love One More I was challenged to make that happen. After having lunch with a friend the Holy Spirit put everything in place. I now have the privilege of visiting with a very kind gentle man every Thursday at the “Orchard” right down the street from the church!  God is good!
