Sermon: May 29, 2011 – Following Jesus in Uncertainty

Part 4 in our series Following Jesus: There’s an App For That – Following Jesus in Uncertainty. Today we talk about following Jesus in uncertainty. We don’t know what’s going on. In fact, just a week ago today, Joplin, Mo was hit with a ton of uncertainty. It gets even more personal. Some of you today don’t know what’s going to happen with your job, or finances, or marraiges. Following Jesus through uncertainty is very much a part of this. Through uncertain times we need to hold fast and stay focused…

Sermon: May 8, 2011 – Following Jesus Through Fear

Fear can be a paralyzing experience. You may be afraid of spiders or whatever, there are a lot of things we have phobia’s over. I was afraid of storms growing up. When the wind started blowing, I’d start to get a little antsy. But where can you find your comfort in your fear? There are going to be storms in life. So where do you turn…

Sermon: May 1, 2011 – There’s An App For That

Seems like today there’s an app for almost anything out there. Apps for productivity, apps for organization, apps for games and even apps for checking your local weather. But is there an app that will help you along the path and guide you? Follow along in this new message series by Pastor Tim Barker at Katy Community Fellowship.

Sermon: January 23, 2011 – The Comfortable Cross

1 Corinthians

Christ Crucified Is God’s Power and Wisdom
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written:

“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”

Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”

Sermon: October 20, 2010 – HELPERS

Hebrews 13:17 – Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.

Sermon: September 26, 2010 – Love In The Family

A great family has to start with a great foundation.

Sermon: August 22, 2010 – Learning to Love, Loving to Learn

Bible Verse: James 1:22-25 (NIV)
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

Sermon: May 30, 2010 – What Matters Most Week 2

We discovered last week that God’s greatest commandment was and over the next few weeks to learn to love like Jesus. Today we are going to look at verse 4 with “Love is patient, love is kind”.
