Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV) “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
It is important to each of us that we keep our appointments and that we are on time. Most of us today use some form of an appointment calendar, be it an old fashion book or high-tech device to help us manage our day. We are continually checking our calendars to see if we have time to add another event. To some people their appointment calendar is the last thing they want to lose. Do you start you day by referring to you appointment calendar? Do you refer to it during the day? Did you miss an appointment today?
Now I would like for you to review your calendar for yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Did you have an appointment with God scheduled? When you schedule your appointment with God is not important, but it is important that you do. In Mathew 11:28-30 he invites us to join him each day. He states, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
To me, time is my most precious commodity. It is hardest thing for me to give to God. Over the years I have found that when I keep MY appointment with God each day, my relationship with Him changes meaningless, wearisome toil into spiritual productivity and purpose.
Finding time to pray is not easy but prayer is the vital link between us and God. Like Jesus, we must break away from others to talk with God, even if we have to get up early in the mornings to do it.
Mark your Calendar for the next forty days and Keep your Appointment. Then you will make an appointment with Him each day for the rest of your life.
